In today's fast-paced world, many of us spend our days surrounded by screens, traffic, deadlines, and constant noise. We often think that simply "getting outside" is enough to recharge, but there is a profound difference between being outdoors and intentionally connecting with nature.
Shinrin-yoku (Forest Bathing) is the Japanese practice of mindfully immersing yourself in the atmosphere of a forest. It has nothing to do with swimming or exercise. Instead, it is about slowing down, awakening your senses, and allowing the natural world to restore both body and mind.
Sylvotherapy also known as (Forest Therapy) is a guided wellness practice that deepens this connection through intentional experiences in wooded environments. While inspired by many ancient traditions of healing through nature, modern Sylvotherapy combines mindful awareness, gentle movement, sensory invitations, and scientific research to help people experience the restorative benefits of forests.
Neither practice requires physical fitness, hiking experience, or special equipment. The goal isn't to reach a destination—it's to fully experience where you already are.
Researchers have spent decades studying how forests influence human health. While forest therapy is not a replacement for medical care, research suggests that intentional time in nature may contribute to improvements in overall well-being.
Studies have found associations with:
-Lower perceived stress
-Improved mood
-Reduced mental fatigue
-Increased feelings of calm and relaxation
-Improved attention and concentration
-Lower heart rate during and after forest experiences
-Reduced blood pressure in some individuals
-Improved sleep quality
-Increased feelings of connection, gratitude, and overall well- being
Hi, I'm Erika.
I've always loved being outdoors, but it wasn't until I discovered forest therapy that I truly learned the value of slowing down and simply being present in nature. I was amazed at how much calmer, clearer, and more grounded I felt—and I knew I wanted to help others experience that, too.
That's why I created BeWild Forest Therapy. My hope is to provide a welcoming space where you can step away from the busyness of everyday life, breathe deeply, reconnect with nature, and leave feeling refreshed.
When I'm not guiding walks, you'll usually find me exploring the outdoors with my German Shorthaired Pointer, caring for my backyard flock of chickens, or enjoying the simple beauty of Pennsylvania's forests.
I'd love the opportunity to share the healing power of nature with you.
